Gone but not Forgotten

Liberty

Liberty was a 17 year old miniature mare that came in from another rescue. She was in a lot of pain and had severe founder. To make matters worse, she had a 2 month old foal. We loved Freida, the foal, but it was really hard on Liberty.

Liberty was rescued at an auction by the Lazy Horse Rescue in SD. We offered to take her from them as they are a Clydesdale rescue and were not equipped to handle this mini. They did an excellent job with her and really wanted Liberty to get some additional help.

Liberty crossed the Rainbow Bridge today - September 19th, 2008. She was loved dearly by so many people at her original SD rescue and at Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue. She will be missed. She had it pretty rough, but was so brave!

THE SD RESCUE THE THOUGHT I COULD NOT SHAKE
I KNEW THIS WAS A HORSE I MUST IMMEDIATLEY TAKE

IN SUCH PAIN FROM HER FEET THAT SHE COULD BARELY WALK
I ONLY WISHED I COULD HELP AND THAT SHE COULD TELL AND TALK

IN SUCH PAIN EVERYDAY BUT EYES THAT STILL WOULD SHINE
I WAS SO PROUD TO CALL THIS WONDERFUL HORSE MINE

AS THE PAIN GOT WORSE AND NOT ONE STEP SHE COULD TAKE
WE KNEW A ROUCH DECISION WE WOULD HAVE TO MAKE

LIBERTY GOT LOTS OF TREATS, SOME HUGS AND WAS KISSED
THIS LITTLE LADY WAS GOING TO BE GREATLY MISSED

STEVE HELPED DIG A HOLE WITH TEARS IN HIS EYES
BACK AT THE BARN THERE WERE LOTS OF CRIES

LIBERTY WAS THEN LED TO THE BIG HOLE
AFTER SHE SAID GOOD BYE TO HER FOAL

LIBERTY LAID DOWN AS PEACEFUL AS COULD BE
HER LIFE WAS NOW OVER AND SHE WAS LIVING PAIN FREE

SHE IS RUNNING AND JUMPING IN LONG GREEN GRASS
NO ACHES NO PAINS SHE IS FREE AT LAST

WE DID NOT LOSE OUR LIBERTY THAT DAY
FOR IN OUR HEARTS AND MEMORIES SHE WILL ALWAYS STAY.
