Where Do We Get Our Horses?
Donated Minis Some minis are donated by people who may not be able to care for them anymore due to divorce, money issues, lack of feed, no one using anymore and several other reasons.
Abused/Seized Minis which are removed from dangerous situations by authorities.
Auction sale minis - We buy minis at auction when no one else wants them. These minis more than likely would have ended up in a trailer headed for Canada for slaughter. Many of these minis are halter and/or saddle broke and make wonderful pets.
Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue is here to help. We are not in the business of selling horses. We want to HELP find our minis permanent, loving homes. Some of these horses are hurt physically, some emotionally and some both. These animals are remarkable creatures. Over time, they are so willing to try to love and trust again. BEFORE you buy a mini won't you consider adopting one?
The Purple Ribbon Campaign
Click the Ribbon above for more information.
One of the organic ingredients often used to make purple dye in the middle ages was the blood of horses (congealed, dried, and made into a powder). Congealed blood from horses dries to a dark reddish purple color.
Purple was by far the most expensive of the color dyes to produce, and cloth made from the dye was only within the reach of the very rich and powerful. The legacy of abusing horses is unfortunately a long and varied one.
In France, the horses were often taken from the Royal Stables to provide the coveted purple dyes for the Royal Court of France. The French aristocrats considered the horse to be royal in nature.
Throughout Europe, the royals associated the color with power and wealth, the non royals (commoners) associated it with tragedy and death. Purple vestments are usually donned when giving a dying person their last rights.
THANKS TO THE ASPCA FOR MAKING EXPANSION POSSIBLE
Due to a grant from the ASPCA, Triple H Miniature Horse rescue is expanding. We are constructing an additional large corral and water fountain approximately 100 feet X 200 feet where we will be ale to house more minis in need. This new area will allow for minis that are able to graze, the opportunity to have a large area to run and graze in the spring, summer and fall months. It will also provide a wonderful quarantine area if necessary.
